The Thematic Session (ST4) – Innovation and technology: From university to product was held on August 8, 2024 at the SINAPE 2024 convention (Brazilian Symposium on Probability and Statistics) and featured a presentation by the firm’s partner, Rodolfo Guimarães.
The objective of the Thematic Session was to promote discussion about the role of universities in the innovation policy implemented in Brazil, as well as the barriers encountered by universities in carrying out the development of processes and products. Also, highlight the university-company interaction by showing success stories on this topic, especially in the areas of statistics and data science. The proposed theme addressed issues such as: what is innovation within statistics/data sciences, what are the incentive actions/laws for universities and companies, success stories, startup creation and deep techs. To this end, entrepreneurs, scientists and researchers from universities were brought together in this session, with the aim of encouraging the development of innovations in the statistical community/data scientists.
